Paleo Chai Spiced Donuts with Optional Vanilla Glaze

Ingredients

1 1/4 cups Almond Flour

1/4 tsp Sea Salt

1/4 tsp Baking Soda

1 tsp Nutmeg

1 1/2 tsps Cinnamon

1/2 tsp Cardamon

1/4 tsp Ground Cloves

3 Eggs

1/4 cup Coconut Oil (melted)

2 tbsps Pure Organic Maple Syrup (sub raw honey)

1 tsp Vanilla Extract

2 tbsps Coconut Oil (GLAZE)

1 cup Powdered Coconut Sugar (GLAZE)

1 tsp Vanilla Extract (GLAZE)

1 tbsp Pure Organic Maple Syrup (GLAZE)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Whisk all dry ingredients together in a bowl.

  3. Combine wet ingredients in a bowl.

  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until smooth.

  5. Dough will be thick. Spoon the dough into the donut pan, filling about 2/3 the way. I just pat the dough down and make sure it all gels together in the pan.

  6. Bake for 10 minutes.

  7. To make the glaze: melt the coconut oil in a saucepan over low heat and add the other glaze ingredients. Continue to stir to a smooth consistency.

  8. Let the donuts cool a few minutes then dip them in the vanilla glaze. You can even coat with sprinkles but we are definitely non Paleo then! The kids might like that option on a special day:)

Notes

Servings. 1 donut is a serving. This recipe makes 6 donuts if you have deeper muffin tins but if they are a little more shallow, it may make about 8 donuts.
